This document is a press release from UNICEF Moldova published on 16 April 2009 regarding a meeting between the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) representative in Moldova and the Moldovan deputy Minister of Interior held that day. The aim of this meeting was to express concern about the situation of children deprived of their liberty in connection with demonstrations that took place in the centre of Chisinau in early April 2009. UNICEF requested that children detained in relation to the protests are accorded their full rights under the law and reiterated its further commitment to assist the country in reforming its juvenile justice system.Available in English.
