The document entitled “First report on youth delinquency in Italy” is a summary of a report published by the Juvenile Justice Department (JJD) of the Ministry of Justice of Italy in December 2008. This report provides the latest available data on children in conflict with the law for the period 2001-2006. Statistics available seems to show a significant trend: the decreasing numbers of complaints against minors. The report aims to add value in the interpretation of the trends in children in conflict with the law within the framework of the Italian juvenile justice system and its services. As important regional differences were highlighted, its objective is also to issues of concern for Italian society.
