1. Editorial:

In May and June 2010, two important events at the international level will address issues related children’s rights and juvenile justice:

The 14th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council will take place in Geneva from 31 May to 18 June. Two reports on human rights in the administration of justice, including juvenile justice, written by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UN Secretary-General will be discussed. These reports follow-up on the recommendations in resolution 10/2 on "Human rights in the administration of justice, in particular juvenile justice” that was adopted during the 10th session of the Human Rights Council in March 2009.

The 54th session of the Committee on the Rights of the Child is also taking place in Geneva from 25 May to 11 June. The State reports of Argentina, Belgium, Macedonia, Grenada, Guatemala, Japan, Nigeria and Tunisia concerning the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child will be reviewed. Alternative reports from NGO coalitions in each country are also available, providing further information on the situation of children's rights. The reports from Argentina, Belgium, Guatemala and Japan include a focus on juvenile justice.

These documents are available to download below.
